GEORGE SAND 114
This conceptual design is rooted in tthe Tramuntana mountains. The property embraces its natural surroundings through the use of local stone—grounding the architecture in the landscape and creating a sense of permanence, peace, and calm.
The attention was focused on key areas of the property to maximise the value of the beautiful home. The flooring, an unnatural and uncharacteristic tile would be replaced by a more natural reclaimed stone. The master and guest bathrooms would be stripped and replaced by an eclectic bathroom that would be more suited to the vernacular Tramuntana style.
-
It is essential to follow a set of materials that synergies well together. The softness of linen contrast with the hardness of natural stone, yet the colours work beautifully together. The alabaster and microcements will follow a similar design path. Pairing bronze finishes and natural wood will add a new elements to the space, yet follow the rustic vision of the property.
-
We now take a moment to look at the floorplan. Notice how a large portion of the budget will be allocated to the flooring. This is essential to bring the property to the standard it requires. The reclaimed stone undulates naturally under your feet due to many years of exposure. A unique and elegant material that gives the home a story.
-
We envision how the materials harmonize to evoke the natural essence of Mallorca. Reclaimed stone contrasts beautifully with the clean finish of modern microcement, while soft tones and subtle textures bring a sense of warmth—deeply rooted in the spirit of Tramuntana design.
-
A mood for the bathrooms is prepared to create a visual understanding of the general design direction. The soft tones, textures, materials, and colours combine to create a minimalist and visually calming space.
-
The layout of the bathroom is made to understand where everything is going, how much space there is for a bathtub, where the walk-in closet will go. This is a communicative design for the clients and will later turn into an highly accurate floorplan with plumbing lines, cables and elevations.
-
The elements of the bathroom come together in a sketch where it is clearer to visualise the space.
-
The contrast of the dark bronze with the softness of the microcement stimulate the senses, and remain within the rustic design concept for the property in the Tramuntana.
-
Finally, a walk-in closet was requested. Taking the natural wood, and following the rustic concept design, the closet will have elements of clean edges and aged wood. Both practical and beautiful.
